Ask educators in beauty schools, medical schools, and even elementary schools, and they’ll tell you a simple truth: Looking good and feeling good are connected. When we talk about the “natural glow” of great skin, we’re talking about healthy skin. Beautiful hair is healthy, too (or, technically, is a sign of good health — the hair itself is made of dead cells!).

This means that looking good requires healthy living. So what does healthy living require? Many experts say that the best way to live healthy is to focus on the natural. This means eating right by avoiding processed foods and eating more natural alternatives (namely, whole foods). It also means avoiding the chemicals in cosmetic products that health and cosmetology experts alike fear may be damaging in the long run.

CBD and Other Natural Health Solutions

Nature is full of incredible things that can help us live in healthier ways. Take the hemp plant, for example. Hemp is famous thanks to the drug marijuana, which is just dried hemp leaves and buds. But how does marijuana get you high? Hemp, as it turns out, includes a compound called THC. THC is one of many cannabinoids in marijuana that affect human minds and bodies, and it happens to the most important (by far) of the cannabinoids when it comes to generating marijuana’s famous high. THC may also have health benefits.

But THC is illegal in most states in the United States, as is marijuana in general. Is this true of all cannabinoids? As it turns out, no. Other cannabinoids are legal, and one in particular — CBD — is a great example of the sort of natural health solution we should be paying attention to. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, which means that it won’t get you high (this also means that it avoids the ire of the federal government — in fact, even big federal bodies like the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, have agreed that CBD is safe). But CBD does affect our bodies and minds, even if it doesn’t get us high. Experts believe that CBD can help us with symptoms like pain, nausea, and anxiety. And while not all of these claims have been certified by the FDA and other groups, the research is very exciting. Testimonies of those who use CBD oil, CBD vape juice, and other CBD products can be extremely convincing.

How is CBD produced?

CBD is easy to get and easy to use. The cannabis plant (that’s just another word for hemp or marijuana) can be cultivated without THC. That means that farmers who grow hemp can create pure CBD versions. And those pure CBD versions can be turned into pure CBD products. CBD can also be extracted from plants and isolated. CBD isolate and all of these pure CBD products are legal, because these isolate oils and other products don’t have THC or any other illegal substances in them. Just be sure to get a reliable product that offers the purest form of CBD you can find, so that you avoid any trace amounts of THC. (Trace amounts of THC won’t get you high, but they could theoretically show up on the lab results in a drug test. This isn’t highly likely, but it’s important to keep in mind if you’re subject to drug test requirements at work or at school.)

Going a more natural route can be much better in the long run.
